The luxury trend of ‘Pop-Up Restaurants’ arrives in Vale do Lobo this summer. A concept that has swept the world in the last year is quite rightly going to make its first Portuguese appearance in the country’s leading luxury resort. Vale do Lobo will play host to four of the best chefs in the Algarve in true east coast-meets-west coast style and offer the opportunity to sample some of the finest gastronomic cuisine available in Portugal.

Taking place over three consecutive Wednesdays in August, Vale do Lobo will become a stage for each chef to perform and dazzle in a unique Pop-Up Restaurant located in the beautiful Sculpture Garden at Parque do Golfe. Quite literally the restaurant will ‘pop out’ of the ground for one night only with each chef.

Hosted by Jonnie Pratt from Bistro des Z’Artes, Almancil’s very own celebrity chef, Jonnie instigated the event and invited the best of the best from along the coast to join him for three separate evenings of great food, good wines and fantastic fun.

Opening the event and waving the flag for the eastern Algarve is Jaime Perez, the El Bulli-trained and super-talented chef at Vistas Restaurant at Monte Rei near the Spanish border. Jaime’s fresh, delicate, but technically challenging cooking has established Vistas as THE best restaurant in the east, and guests at Vale do Lobo will be in for a real treat with a Spanish twist.

A recent arrival on the Algarve scene is Portuguese chef Emmanuel Soares who has just taken the reins at Martinhal, the newest 5* hotel in the Algarve, just a stone’s throw from the most south-westerly point in Europe in Sagres. Emmanuel’s Michelin background, including time spent with Alain Ducasse, showcases his talent superbly, and his passion for Portuguese produce and in particular the unusual delicacies found on the West Coast of Portugal are making him a much talked-about newcomer.

The last night will be a rare treat as Hans Neuner, the newest Michelin star in the Algarve, leaves his kitchen at Vila Vita Parc and brings his creative and beautiful food to Vale do Lobo. Aged 33, this significantly talented chef's food is among the most inspiring on the coast. Austrian by birth, he has achieved an incredible feat for Ocean Restaurant at Vila Vita Parc, having the star awarded in less than three years after taking over the kitchen.
